Silence is at a premium in our day and age. Many of us fill every second with something, music, tv, email, work, social media, family, extra curricular activities and much more. These things are important but sometimes they get in our way. Have you ever felt like you are not hearing from God? Maybe it's because the volume of your life is turned up too loud. Maybe it's because all of the activity in your life is drowning him out. God has something to say to us, but he will not compete with the other "voices" that surround us. It this moving service you will be challenged to create margin for periods of "silent listening" in your life each day. On this powerful day of worship at Cornerstone we spent five minutes in silent listening. You will notice it on the podcast and we encourage you to do the same. At the end of the five minutes, you will hear some of our members share their testimony of what God spoke to them. If you are like many of us, you will find it difficult, because we are so distracted by all that is going on around us. Satan will attack your thought process and attempt to throw you off focus. If this does happen, center again around the words from the Psalmist, "Be still and know that I am God..." As you engage in this time of silent listening, keep in mind that it isn't a time of prayer, but listening for the still, small voice of God.

There are many people who have a poor image of who God our Father is. Often this is because their earthly fathers have not been the dad that God called them to be. As a result, many people look at God through the lens of a poor earthly father. In Luke 15 Jesus clears this up and demonstrates just how great that God our Father is. He invites us to call him "Abba."

For the first time in 5 years Matt and I take the stage together. This time it is to discuss his open and very honest confession that made concerning issues in his life. The response to his facebook post on 6/7/12 has been overwhelming! We have had many people from all walks of life call, text, tweet and send private facebook messages of support and encouragement. Matt's courage has given many the strength they needed to realize that they are not alone in their struggles. As a result, many have shared those struggles, addictions, poor choices, and pain from their past with us over the past few days. Our prayer is that many will be helped with this message. And as always at brothers3ministries, we truly believe that "God can turn tragedy into victory!"

We are at war! The forces of good are battling the forces of evil and every single person is affected by this war. There is a worldview that says, "Anything that happens; happens as a part of God's sovereign plan. God is in control of every molecule in the universe. Things (tragic, evil & catastrophic) happen against God's will but never outside of God's will." I believe this is misleading and is not found in scripture. In this message I begin to set out what I believe is the correct motif found in the bible: A Warfare motiff. This is the desperate fight of God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit and the angels of Heaven against Satan and his demonic warriors. Some people are fighting on the side of God, and sadly, some people are fighting on the side of Satan. God will ultimately win the war through the death, burial and resurrection of his son Jesus. But for now, Satan has limited power and his mission is to drag as many of us to hell with him as possible. (Much of this message is based on material by Patrick Mead, Chris Seidman, and Greg Boyd.)
